I don't know if that's "official" or not.
It all comes down to the NCAA's thing about Newberry having an Indian as a mascot.
They've even offered to play the game at Newberry High or somewhere like that and be the 'away' team and remove the tomahawk off their helmets.

I just heard that the Newberry Indians will be changing their mascot to the Red Fire Engines and they still will be called: "Newberry Engines"
